King Soloman: Miami Heat with a New York Twist
“King of the Miami Jewish underground music scene,” rapper King Soloman brings Miami heat with a New York twist.
The Brooklyn native has found recent success with his November release, “Miami Beach,” but Soloman has been releasing music for four years and creating for much longer.
Soloman has been working with producer and longtime friend Tariq Allen since 2012, and after a brief hiatus following his move to Miami, he found his niche as King Soloman. His rebrand “[Introduced] us to his creation of a boy who grew up in Brooklyn… showcasing a past of defying the odds and rising up against challenges.”
What I admire about Soloman’s work is that he takes his time. A fast-paced tempo and rapid-fire lyrics come to mind when you think of modern rap, however, Soloman’s style is a bit different. With a “quality of quantity” mindset, his lyrics are intentional, and coupled with Latin-style backing tracks; he captures the laid-back lifestyle of Miami. This is a wonderfully fresh take the genre, given that the rapper hails from New York, where speed is of the essence (and some sacrifice quality to keep up).
His latest album release, Gettin Paper, is available for purchase via NFT on OpenSea, a new concept that may be a peek into the future of digital music distribution. You can also purchase the physical album on CD with the added perk of free admission to any King Soloman show in 2022.
I’m thrilled to see where King Soloman’s journey takes him as he continues to incorporate modern technology into an age-old genre.
